A Note from the Ed/Lib Team

As anyone who has joined us in our offices over the years knows, we love hosting our seasonal previews to meet local librarians to introduce them to our upcoming titles and authors. With this new section of the Book Drop, we’re even more excited to be able to bring our previews to librarians around the country!

From this page, you can watch the preview speaker’s presentation, download materials distributed at the event, and discover upcoming titles courtesy of S&S staff. So sit back, get your TBR lists ready, and enjoy this preview of our Summer 2018 season from the comfort of your own home, school, or library.

Excited about one of these books? Interested in what we’re reading? Tweet us at @SSEdLib using #SSAdultPreview.

Summer 2018 Preview Speaker

Meet Summer 2018 Preview Speaker, Jennifer Zeynab Joukhadar, author of The Map of Salt and Stars

Nour and her family have just lost their father to cancer, and their mother wants to keep his spirit alive and move them from their New York City home back to Syria. Not long after they move, protests and shelling threaten their lives and they’re forced to make a dangerous journey across the Middle Eastern desert in the hopes of finding peace.

For solice, Nour tells herself the story of Rawiya, who in the eleventh century disguises herself as a boy in order to apprentice with a famous mapmaker, and the girls stories unfold alongside each other, eight hundred years apart.
