Priscilla Painton, Vice President, Editor-in-Chief

Priscilla came to publishing in 2008 after 28 years as a journalist, and her numerous best sellers show not just her passion for being ahead of the story, but also for revealing what's behind it. She has published books by Hillary Rodham Clinton (What Happened, The Book of Gutsy Women also with Chelsea Clinton) and by John Bolton (The Room Where It Happened), as well books that dig deep into big corporations (Kochland by Christopher Leonard), Supreme Court showdowns (Supreme Ambition by Ruth Marcus), Russian treachery (Bill Browder's Red Notice), class in America (Janesville by Amy Goldstein), and even First Ladies, including Michelle (about Michelle Obama) by Liza Mundy The Art of Her Deal (about Melania Trump) by Mary Jordan, and The Triumph of Nancy Reagan by Karen Tumulty..

Priscilla brought wide-ranging curiosity and a news magazine editor’s storytelling instincts with her from her many years at Time magazine. Priscilla has published books on everything from contemporary intellectual history (What Were We Thinking by Carlos Lozada) to a mega-bestseller about the afterlife (Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander). In addition to many works of history, including The Presidents Club by Nancy Gibbs and Michael Duffy; The Blood of Emmett Till by Timothy Tyson; and The Age of Entitlement by Christopher Caldwell, she has published best sellers about health (The Whole Body Reset); religion (Why Buddhism is True by Robert Wright and The Triumph of Christianity by Bart Ehrman); and education (The Smartest Kids in the World by Amanda Ripley).

She also has a record finding best-selling memoirs that double as manifestos for the best of human experience. These include Monkey Mind by Daniel Smith; A Fine Romance by Candice Bergen; Your Life Calling by Jane Pauley; and Big Friendship by Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman. As editor-in-chief, she continues to acquire books for her own list and work with her current authors.
