Prior to joining Simon & Schuster, Jason Pinter was the Founder and Publisher of the independent press Polis Books and its imprint, Agora. At Polis he published many acclaimed books, including Children of Chicago by Cynthia Pelayo, the Pete Fernandez series by Alex Segura, Both Sides by Gabino Iglesias, Three-Fifths by John Vercher, Dark Chapter by Winnie M Li, the Lily Wong series by Tori Eldridge, the Ash McKenna series by Rob Hart, Miraculum by Steph Post, Saint Mick by Mick Foley, and more. He has held editorial positions at Warner Books, Crown Publishers, and St. Martin’s Press, and marketing at Grove/Atlantic. As an author, he published the bestselling Henry Parker and Rachel Marin series, the speculative thriller Past Crimes, as well as Dating & Dismemberment and The Reaper’s Son under the name A.L. Brody.
In fiction, Jason is looking for thriller/suspense/mystery, all sub-genres of romance, romantasy, horror, science fiction, high and low fantasy, and LitRPG. In non-fiction, he is looking for memoir, health and wellness, spirituality, and true crime from authors with engaged audiences. But most of all, he loves being so surprised and engaged by a book that it makes him miss his bus stop (yes, this has happened. More than once).
Prior to joining Simon & Schuster, Chantelle Aimée Osman (she/her) was an acquiring editor at Amazon Publishing, where she worked with bestselling authors such as Robert Dugoni, Mark Sullivan, Suzanne Redfearn, Megan Chance, Victoria Helen Stone, and Simon Tolkien. Previously, she helped launch Agora Books, an imprint of independent press Polis Books, focusing on crime fiction and horror from unique social and cultural voices—themes which still hold a special place in her heart.
At Agora, she acquired and edited books from many renowned authors, including John Vercher, Cynthia Pelayo, Gabino Iglesias, and Tori Eldridge. Her titles have won International Latino Book Award medals; been nominated for the Edgar, Bram Stoker, Dagger, Anthony, Strand Critics, Macavity, and Lefty awards; and been featured in NPR, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Post, the Los Angeles Review of Books, the Chicago Tribune, Reader’s Digest, Oprah Daily, People, and Entertainment Weekly. She was named a Publishers Weekly Rising Star honoree in 2020, and was the former editor in chief of RT Book Reviews magazine, as well as associate professor at LIU Brooklyn’s MFA program in writing and publishing.
Chantelle has also written a series of non-fiction writing guides The Quick and Dirty Guides To… and co-written the graphic novels The Awakened and The Rejects, and serves as the creative consultant for the reimagined Dick Tracy comic. She also serves on the Race Equity & Social Justice Committee of the Pongo Poetry Project, a non-profit organization that uses personal poetry writing to heal youth who have experienced trauma and other difficult and complicated experiences; as well as serving as the board of Prototype Health, a non-profit organization providing high-quality, cost-effective, integrated primary health care for uninsured, underinsured, and needy individuals. When not buried in a book, you can find her wherever her Boston Terriers, Tamerlane and Henry, and her polydactyl cat, Lafitte, want to go.
In fiction, Chantelle is looking for book club fiction, historical fiction, horror, crime fiction (including thriller/suspense/mystery), grounded fantasy, and speculative fiction. She particularly loves stories (historical or contemporary) of strong, groundbreaking women, and prioritizes underrepresented voices. In non-fiction she is looking for witty and fascinating explorations of science (think: Mary Roach), and offbeat or unusual biographies and histories.
Sohi Kang (she/her) graduated from the University of Arizona with her master’s and bachelor’s in journalism.
Before she joined Simon Maverick, she interned at Macmillan, was as a fellow at Business Insider, and served as the social media coordinator at The Daily Wildcat, the UA’s student-led newspaper.
Sohi was born in Korea, but grew up mostly in Wisconsin. She also had brief stints in Illinois and Philadelphia. These days, you can usually find her exploring new food spots or wandering aimlessly around New York City. Sohi has a soft spot for books that are character-driven, funny, centered on found family, and have a touch of magic or mystery.
